A dialog between the 50’s haute couture savoir faire and digital culture.
VIDEO BY LOUISE GUAIS @louiseguais FOR À PART
The collection is a dialog between the 50’s haute couture savoir faire and digital culture.
The idea was to make a list of all stereotypes of haute couture and translate them into new technics. As a visual pixel effect, digital prin- ting on a sequin fabric instead of embroideries, pictures of the client as if it was selfie, PS3 controller as a bag, clothes upside down, twisted, draped, with various ways to wear it. Lines are inspired by old Haute Couture archive pictures, garments close to the body with big volume at the back, strong colors, flowers, fluidity; all the pieces have refe- rences from other pieces, a dress coat or a skirt that turns into a top. The idea is to find new words to talk about Couture in our era and this new virtual reality we live in to make a link between the past and to talk about the future. Clothes are all made in Paris by skilled craftmans, shoes and bags are made in Florence; prints and jewelry are made by French artists we collaborate with.
