QUÉOPS – NEM PERCEBI23 septembre 2018
Inspired by pop music with 2000’s sound but without neglecting an innovative bias, QUÉOPS launches ‘Nem Percebi’, its debut single. Born in Minas Gerais and currently based in Rio de Janeiro, the artist is a singer, actor, composer, and also a dancer and choreographer.
In the composition of his aesthetics, he brings a proposal for androgyny. QUÉOPS points out that this appearance came very naturally in his life and inhabits all the areas in which he appears. ‘When I realized it, I already had an androgynous look. It was not something thought of. This came at the same time that I began to accept and understand that every man has his masculinity regardless of whether he is wearing heels or having big hair’ he said.
Names like The Bahias and Cozinha Mineira, Lineker and drag queens help to boost the LGBTQ + scenario and open space for artists like QUÉOPS, who inhabit the same universe but present a different proposal.
The track has a sound inspired by pop music of the 2000s. The artist, who also wrote the track, explains that this more organic style was what he considered most appropriate for the proposal that the song has. ‘It’s something I love and I grew up listening. That’s what’s truer to me right now. I made a point of the presence of real instruments. It has the sound of drums, guitar, piano. I prayed a lot for this more organic move so that people could feel the visceral side of the instrument.’
The clip, scripted and directed by the artist in partnership with the award-winning filmmaker Helio Ronyvon, shows a person rediscovering love after many disappointments. ‘Throughout the video he reconnects with the past and these dancers represent the loves that somehow marked his life. These reunions make you free to love again’ concludes Ronyvon.
