FASHION WEEK DOCUMENTARY : AFTERHOMEWORK6 March 2019
Pierre Kaczmarek – the youngest designer to make it on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar at the age of 19 last season – and Elena Mottola are back with another very promising collection.
If the young couple were trying to create a genderless look in their previous creations, they have now moved to a more casual gender duality for business issues.
This fall, Afterhomework draws its inspiration in daily life (the invit was a toothbrush) and the everyday Parisian youngster look, though keeping its DNA signature, by mixing streetwear silhouettes with couture details. And what best way to celebrate day to day life than collaborate with the noteworthy outwear brand K-Way that every kid growing up in the nineties remembers. As a result, the collection included a stunning work with bi-material patchworks, building the nylon of K-Way into poor materials, cotton stitched, wool, corduroy and rope.
Last but not least, the collection was created from a strong eighty percent of deadstock materials, a distinctive feature Pierre and Elena don’t like to disclose too much as they don’t want to be labeled as an upcycling brand. Now that they have definitely made their nest into the Parisian fashionsphere, we can’t wait to see them taking things to the next level.
